Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-tac-toe is called noughts and crosses in the UK and British Commonwealth countries It is a game for two players, X and O, who take turns marking the spaces in a 3×3 grid.

Players take it in turns to go first. The player who succeeds in placing three respective marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row wins the game.

The following example game is won by the first player, X:

Players soon discover that best play from both parties leads to a draw. So, tic-tac-toe is most often played by young children. Tic-tac-toe games are ideal as a pedagogical tool for teaching the concepts of good sportsmanship.

These computer application versions are useful for class work on the interactive whiteboard. They are also useful for developing 'mouse skills' in small children. In some the players draw the symbols by using the mouse - in others they 'drag and drop' counters.

The mini-versions below are playable and give you an idea of any animation included. There are two type - move counters to the position or draw in noughts and crosses.

The link below each mini-version takes you to the full sized version.
